After a fortnight in the marina at Puerto Penasco, we set sail for New Zealand. Even if, as we hope, it will take several years to get there, the start journey is what we worked for so hard in the past months.
First stop is Puerto Refugio at the tip of Isla de la Guardia, an uninhabited island which is an overnight passage away, about 109 miles south of Penasco. Arguably one of the most iconic anchorages in the Sea of Cortez, we planned to stay for a week or so to settle in and start to enjoy our sailing family adventures.
From here, we head back to San Carlos, with a few more scenic stops along the way.
