Back in the water after 7 months of what seemed a neverending refit in the boatyard. Where do I start? We completely disassembled New Life and put her back together again, enrolled Nico in a local kindergarten, made friends, lost one, found alternative lodgings on and off the water, saw boats come and go – one even go down intentionally, and got to know and love this old port town of Sonora.
Along the way we enjoyed the company and friendships of numerous other boaters, some of whom have become good friends we have now known literally for years – around here and elsewhere in the Sea of Cortez.
Now the goodbyes are continuing as we settle back into boat life, stow all the loose gear on deck and provision up for our 2 week passage north. Between here and Porto Panesco the only place to stop for fresh provisions would have to be a side excursion back to Bahia Los Angeles village, a detour we should save for the way down, when we head south again after the summer in preparation for crossing the Pacific next year.
For now we want to get New Life out of the Hurricane Zone, go home to catch up with F&F and give Nico a real school experience for one term.
We’ll keep you posted on our blog, on FB and on YouTube again, so come and follow us for the journey!
